Distilling Essential Oil
Foundation course
Course Overview
Our foundation course will introduce you to the technique of steam-distillation, and show you how to produce top-quality, natural essential oils for yourself, your practice or small business. We will guide you through the process, from selecting and preparing plant material, to packing and assembling the still through to collecting and bottling your oils. After the course, you will be equipped with a more precise knowledge of what you want to achieve at home, and clear instructions to follow. You will also gain an appreciation of how much plant material is necessary to create essential oils, and be encouraged to develop a sustainable relationship with the plants you are using.

‘I was given a beautiful 10L copper still by my husband several years ago. I was delighted, but slightly intimidated by its seeming mystery, until I took one of Jill’s courses. She brought the whole distillation process to life, and demystified it for me. Since then I have distilled all kinds of plants from my garden, and it’s incredibly rewarding. I am very grateful to Jill for bringing the wonder of distillation into my life.’
